Another Sunday Surprise

A reminder that I'm gauging interest in a possible hockey group break. 2 boxes of Anthology. 1 box of Enforcers. 1 pack of Luxury Suite. Perhaps a random blaster of something. 17 total hits, and I'll guarantee a hit if you enter and one for your team or random doesn't come from the break. I have 4 slots filled, with the possibility of 2 more. I'm looking for 8 people or 10 slots filled before I place the order. Lots of great teams still available! Both teams in the Stanley Cup! The defending champs in the Kings! Chase some Sven Baertschi or Chris Kreider with the Flames or Rangers!  Check it out with a click here!

OK. Enough with the jibba-jabba. Let's go the goodies from the surprise box I busted yesterday.

Let's open with a 2010s pack. The Ford card is nice, but disappointing for a mask fan like myself. Todd salutes Johnny Cash on his mask, but this card is a front shot. As on apparently all of his cards. Todd never played a minute in the NHL, but I guess for goalies, bench time is enough to qualify for a card. It's still a mask binder card. A nice shot of the Hershey Bears jersey is also enough for the misc binder on the Eakin.

Now, the 5 card Superstar pack. I'm guessing that's the Kessel, but the Muller might be my favourite for the interesting framing of the shot, and the very visible lighthouse patch on the shoulder. The Whalers guy is Jim Storm, seeing as you proably can't tell due to the design. Susan Saint James was the celebrity captain during the NHL's 75th anniversary season, and some of those people ended up with cards. I'd rather have pulled the Burton Cummings Jets card.

Like 1994 Donruss Whalers? Like the fisherman jersey? More of 'em in the 8 card pack.
The design on the Marleau card really works with the Sharks team colours. Andreas Niederberger never saw the NHL, but is a member of the German Hockey Hall of Fame. His son is with Barrie in the OHL, and has had cards in the past 2 Between the Pipes sets. This time, the unreadable Whaler is Darren Turcotte. The Chelios photo is another keeper. Evgeny Popikhin also never saw the NHL. Apparently, by the time this card came out, he'd played his last game. The Whalers team card is from a Kraft Singles set. Free with cheese!

The final item was a 35 CT case. You can never, ever have too many cases.

Fun stuff here with several keepers.
